Ferry from Athens to Santorini
One of the best ways to go from Athens to Santorini is to book a ferry that leaves the port of Piraeus.
The journey depending on the type of boat you choose lasts between 4 and 7 hours and the price moves between 50 and 100 euros depending on the type of boat, company, time in advance and class of seats.
We recommend booking it as soon as possible in advance, especially if you take a car and it is high season (between June and September).

The cheapest and fastest way to get to the port of Piraeus from Athens is to take line 1 of the subway which costs 1.40 euros and stops at the central Monastiraki square.
Another good option is the X80 bus that costs 4.5 euros and takes half an hour and leaves Syntagma Square and the Acropolis from May to September.
If you are far from any metro or bus stop, you can take a taxi for a price of between 20 and 30 euros.
If you want to go directly from Athens airport to Piraeus you can use the x96 bus that will take you in 90 minutes for about 6 euros. These buses run all day and have an exit frequency of about half an hour.
Another alternative is to take a taxi that costs about 60 euros or book this comfortable private transfer service, in which a driver will be waiting for you at the terminal and will take you directly to the departure dock of your ferry in about 45 minutes for little more of 50 euros.

The fastest way to get to the airport from the center of Athens is to take line 3 of the subway, operating from 6: 30h to 23: 30h, which will take you in 40 minutes for 10 euros.
A cheaper and slower option is to take the bus on the X95 line, operating 24 hours a day, which will take you to the airport in 70 minutes for 6 euros.
Both transports stop at the central Syntagma Square, one of the essential places to visit in Athens.
If you prefer the taxi, remember that it has a fixed price of 38 euros between 05h and 00h and 53 euros between these two hours.

Where to sleep in Santorini

If you do not want to spend a lot of money, we would avoid the best known area of Oía, and we would stay in the villages of Fira or Firostefani.
In the latter we stayed at Gaby Apartments, with an excellent location, right next to a famous Greek Orthodox church and with incredible views.
Fira is located next to Firostefani and also has a wide range of hotels with a good quality / price ratio.
To get to the accommodation from the port of Athinios of Santorini, if you do not have a car, you can opt for the bus that will take you for just over 2 euros to Fira and Firostefani or for the taxi for about 30 euros.
From the airport you also have the bus service that stops in the different villages of the island and the taxi that costs about 20 euros.
