A week before we left for Warsaw, we asked on our Instagram if anyone had advice on what to see and do in the capital of Poland, and 90% of the messages revolved around a theme: how rich Polish food is. The truth is that it is not a famous cuisine (have you ever eaten in a Polish restaurant?) But, after trying the occasional bocao (ains, bikini operation!), We admit that we loved it. In this post we will tell you 10 restaurants to eat in Warsaw (good and cheap)

We saw it recommended by Joaquín de Guia Low Cost, so we fully trusted his stomach and well we did! This restaurant has a menu of typical polish cuisine, with a variety of starters (especially meatballs, mmm), soups and especially meat (there are also fish). For 10-15 € per person you put on your boots (the portions are delicious).

We had a goulash soup, dumplings of potatoes and cheese (Rober didn't like them very much while I loved them) and a south shnitzel, a chop (in fact they were 2) of pork breaded the rich sea. It is served with potatoes and lemon.

Try the Książęce beer (half a liter costs about € 2.5 and… it's the little XD). Tip: at the end of dinner they bring you a shot of cherry liquor. Very rich!

By chance, next to the hotel where we stayed, was a restaurant very similar to Podwale 25: U Szwejka (has exactly the same card). Here we tried lamb sausages with potatoes and salad and a plate with some potato pancakes (similar to hashbrowns) with smoked salmon, sour cream and salmon caviar. Everything was good, but we were left with the dishes we tried in Podwale 25. Be careful because it is usually filled!

So that the connection is not broken, this also brings you the shot of cherry liquor ... how delicious!

We came here because apparently in this place they eat some ofthe best pierogi in Poland. What are pierogi? A kind of dumplings stuffed with the most varied ingredients (meat, spinach with feta, mushrooms, salmon with camembert, sweet cheese, cheese with strawberry sauce, cinnamon, apple and raisins ...). They can be fried or steamed. As for prices, the ration of 9 pierogi costs about € 5/6 depending on the filling.

We tried the cheese ones (accompanied by sour cream) and they were undoubtedly the best we tried. The menu is more extensive (we also tried zurek soup and sausage, but if you come here ... don't run out of pierogi!). It is actually a restaurant chain with polish cuisine, affordable prices and quality food.

Investigating a little about Warsaw we discovered the milk bars (Bary mleczne), some Neighborhood restaurants, simple and cheap, where formerly it was cooked with dairy products (hence the name). It turns out that one of the best is “Bambino, so we went there. The cuisine is genuine, homemade and very economical: for € 4 you have starter, main course and drink. It freaks out!

When you arrive ask for the menu in English because if not ... you will not find out anything. You will have to ask for it and pay it at the checkout and then pick up your dishes at a window that overlooks the kitchen. Ojito that say the name of the dish in Polish but if you show your ticket, they will surely help you 😉

Our guide recommended that we come to eat at this milk bar which also caught us close to the hotel. Apparently it is one of the best milk bars in Warsaw. There is no menu in English (although one of the cashiers did speak English), but just in case we leave you a little trick: before ordering, check out the photos of the reviews of google or tripadvisor. Choose the one you want and show them to the cashier. Do not worry about prices, because everything is very cheap. The menus cost about € 4 but, if you ask for several things (goulash plate, chop plate with bathed potatoes, pierogi, dessert and 3 drinks) it will not be expensive either. We pay 49zl (about € 12).

We continue with another milk bar Where to eat well and cheaply. Here we also recommend ordering the menu in English or letting you recommend by the cashier. Entering the Mleczny Familijny Bar is like suddenly returning to the Soviet Union, a leap into the past. As in the case of the previous ones, here the food is traditional, with simple and very tasty ingredients. The menu is very extensive, we recommend eating a soup and a main course (estimate that you will pay about 2-4 €). Tip: ask for placki kartoflane (potato pancakes), they are delicious.

A very good option if you want to eat some vegetarian or vegan dish. It has a menu with soups at about € 2 and main dishes such as pasta, pierogis, koftas, vegetable wok, risotto and much more for € 5/7. Also has "lunch menu”For 25zl (€ 5.80) consisting of the dish of the day and soup of the day. And don't miss their pies!

Another vegetarian option, which lately is becoming very fashionable in Warsaw. But this one specializes in vegan burgers. They use healthy, organic and no added ingredients. We don't try them, but because of the reviews, they have to be great! They cost about 16zl (€ 4).

If you get tired of blunt dishes of Polish food, maybe a pizza will bring your life back. You know: one pizza a week is synonymous with happiness XD Ciao Napoli is a very good option and they have wood oven! At noon they have an offer that for 19zl (€ 4.50) includes a pizza and an extra (dessert / coffee). Well worth approaching.

If you go at night I leave some reference prices: margherita (20zl, about € 5), pizzas with more ingredients (22-34zl, about € 5-8), cocacola (€ 1.7).

If you feel like trying some typical Middle Eastern dish, this is your site. At noon there is a menu of soup, salad and main course for 23zl (€ 5.30) or if you prefer you can opt for some “tapa” (mezze means tapas) like 10 pieces of falafel with sauce for € 4.80 , hummus and 4 falafeles for € 5.80, soups for € 2.30 ...

If you don't mind paying a little more to taste creative cuisine, in trendy stores and with quality ingredients, there are two options that we recommend: “Dyletanci" Y "Kieliszki na Próżnej" There are two restaurants where there is menu of the day (30-40zl, about € 10) and menu with curious proposals. The famous Polish chef Rafał Hreczaniuk works in Dyletanci, and is a good place to taste local wines.

And another famous chef is Mateusz Gessler. If you want to visit any of its restaurants, at Hala Koszyki market there are two: “Ćma" Y "Warszawski Sen" This market is a good place for foodies, in the center of Warsaw.
