¿What to eat in China? Next we will tell you more about the Gastronomy and typical dishes of China.

If you think Chinese food is reduced to spring rolls, rice 3 delicacies and chicken with almonds, you're wrong. Very wrong: Chinese cuisine is immense and delicious! It has been one of the countries where we have best eaten and where after 8 months we have left behind noodles and rice with pieces of meat, to eat meat with bits of noodles and rice!

In China, eating does not mean just feeding, eating is a real pleasure. The portions are very large, since they are designed to be shared: several dishes are ordered and it is biting here and there. Oh how we like to eat !!

The immense territory of China provides a great variety of ingredients and styles of kitchens ... think that the yellow giant is more or less like Europe or the US big! So imagine having a unique culinary tradition, but formed by Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, Irish dishes ... crazy!

To sum up a bit let's say there are 4 main styles:

1. THE NORTH SCHOOL, where wheat displaces rice and there are a thousand types of crepes, muffins, pasta, cakes ... simmer, roast and stew instead of sauteing.

2. THE WEST SCHOOL, It is loaded with spices and many spicy-sweet and sour combinations. The dressing has more weight than the main ingredient. It is often fried a lot.

3. THE EAST SCHOOL, Here rice is the king of the mambo, it is combined with vegetables, meats, fish, with everything! It is cooked with oil and is characterized by the fine slicing, the beautiful color combinations and the use of soy sauce.

4. THE SOUTH SCHOOL, It is the so-called Cantonese cuisine where food is almost always sauteed in the wok or steamed. Less meat is eaten to leave the spotlight on vegetables and fish. In the past, the Chinese in the interior criticized their coastal neighbors for being "wild": they said they ate everything that flew less than planes, everything that swam less ships and anything with legs except chairs and tables!

We would have to comment a thousand more things but let's talk about our experience with chinese cuisine

THE KNOWN

Yes, it is true that we had said that fried rice and noodles were no longer found, well let's say there wasn't much, but there was!

THE NEW ENTRY

Coming from the Philippines where there is meat, but in very small little caps that would leave the smurfs hungry, we freaked out in colors when we saw the meat portions in China ... GIANT! Here with the smurfs you can eat Gargamel your cat and the whole forest !!

Chicken, veal, lamb, duck ... with a thousand types of sauces (soy, spicy, beer, sweet and sour, oysters, garlic, vegetables ...). My mother, I seemed to be a girl on Christmas day, at every meal and every dinner (luckily in China we walked a lot if I had not gained 5 kg).

THE UNKNOWN

There are things that we have not caught. What could this be? And that? Mmm many mysteries in this gastronomy, like that typical breakfast they gave us in Pingyao ... It is best not to be afraid to ask for anything, without knowing what it is, or pointing to the plate of another table that looks great.

Typical breakfast in Pingyao ... where do I start ??

DUMPLINGS-MANIA

What we liked the most were the dumplings, or empanadillitas, or ravioli, or world wonder that would have to be declared Unesco heritage ... cooked, steamed, fried, vegetarian, with pork, veal, chicken, round, triangular ... it gives me same! I want them all! EVERYBODY!

And so much we liked that my favorite cook, also boyfriend, the other night with his hands in the dough, literally prepared me some delicious dumplings!

RARE (AUTONOMOUS)

Yes, we admit that there are rare and super common things in the lives of the Chinese ...

THE RARE (TOURIST)

And the bugs are not lacking, although we have only seen it in tourist markets (but the Chinese there ate them!). It must be an exquisite delicacy for special occasions, and as we did not have weddings, baptisms, or celebrations we did not try them ... next time (maybe) it will be!

AND MUCH MORE

Vegetables, muffins, sweets, fish and many other things we have tried on our trip, but we have only done a small excursion in Chinese cuisine: there are thousands and thousands of foods that we have left to try ... and we do not lack! To know what lies behind there!

What does everything look good? (Well, okay, chicken leg is not packed!) Do you know more things there what to eat in china?
